Jesus & The Blind Man - John 9 |
|
In John's gospel, Jesus comes upon a man born blind and performs a unique healing unlike any other found in the Biblical record. It brings a number of surprises,
none greater than in the way we discover ourselves in the story. This is an evangelistic message that includes a call to the listener to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This lesson was presented on May 18, 2008, at Oak Hill Bible Church in Austin, Texas.

Jesus & The Samaritan Woman - John 4 |
|
As Jesus retreated from Judea and returned to the Galilee, he stopped at a well in the middle of Samaria, where He met a Samaritan woman. She was ready to
defend her culture and beliefs and traditions against this Jewish traveler. Instead, she encountered the Truth, and He revealed in her the hypocrisy common to all man-made religion.

Proofs for the Resurrection |
|
Everything we believe about the life, teachings and significance of Jesus of Nazareth hinges on our view of the Resurrection accounts.
The Resurrection account in the Gospels is the most compelling evidence for the deity of Jesus. This teaching offers a survey of the evidence presented in support of the eyewitness accounts.
This lesson was presented on Easter 2009 at Oak Hill Bible Church in Austin, Texas.

The Book of Romans |
|
Paul's letter to the Romans is widely acknowledged to be the single most important theological essay every written. Romans is literally loaded with essential Christian doctrine,
and no Bible education is complete without a thorough examination of this book. Martin Luther commended every Christian to memorize Romans word-for-word, and though we may never
reach this goal, we can certainly give ourselves to understanding it's wisdom. The Book of Romans reads like a course in systematic Christian theology, and it holds the keys to understanding a long
list of fundamental Christian doctrines and beliefs, including soteriology (the doctrine of salvation), harmartiology (the doctrine of sin), Israelology (the doctrine of Israel), election,
predestination, sanctification, and many other important truths.
The study was conducted from January through June 2009 at Wayside Chapel in San Antonio, Texas.

Moses' Three Objections - Exodus 4 |
|
Moses received one of the greatest calls into ministry ever recorded in the Bible, yet when he first heard it, did Moses embrace his calling enthusiastically? Not exactly. Study Moses' three objections to
accepting God's call on his life, and learn how you might be raising those same objections in the face of your own call to serve God. This teaching is taken from Exodus 4.
This lesson was presented on June 28, 2008, at Parkhills Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas.

Elijah's Disappointment - 1Kings 19 |
|
The northern kingdom of Israel suffered through many evil kings, none worse than Ahab and his wife Jezebel. Into this
evil kingdom God called Elijah to stand against the sin and apostacy of the northern tribes. Elijah's testimony of God's authority and power to the
disobedient tribes provided a test of faith and obedience - but the real test was found in Elijah's heart.

1Corinthians |
|
Paul's first letter to the church in Corinth is addressed to a church rife with sexual immorality, pagan worship and vestiges of Greek cultural influence. The letter
combines extreme patience with firm correction as the Apostle pleads with the believers in Corinth to set aside the fleshly, sinful practices of
their earlier lives and chart a new course as Christians. Along the way, Paul contends with various doctrines, heresies and church practices including
the misuse of spiritual gifts, eternal rewards for believers, treatment of the physical body, rules for marriage and divorce, and numerous other hot topics -
for both the church then and today.
The study was held from September - December 2008 at Wayside Chapel in San Antonio.

Hebrews |
|
Perhaps the most enigmatic epistle of the New Testament, the Book of Hebrews confronts the reader with foundational Christian doctrines framed for an audience steeped in Jewish law and tradition.
Perhaps this explains why present-day Christians often find this book confusing or even misleading. We will peel back the layers of this complex and
rich letter in typical VBV Ministry style: looking for scripture's common threads while appreciating the cultural and historical nuances that distinguish this letter.
The study began April 2, 2008, at Wayside Chapel in San Antonio.

Restoring God's People (2008 Ed.) |
| Most of us have experienced discipline from our earthly father, but what about the discipline of our Heavenly Father?
Scripture tells us that God also disciplines those He loves, yet few Christians take time to study and understand how God applies discipline in our lives.
This study offers an in-depth appreciation of how the Father disciplines and then restores His children. The study examines events in the history of nation of Israel,
when it received the Father's discipline as they entered into Babylonian captivity and eventually were restored to the land.
The study examines passages from 1 & 2 Kings, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah.

Obedience as Worship: A Teaching from the Life of David |
|
This is a verse-by-verse teaching taken from 1Chronicles and the life of King David. Worship is much more than singing praise to God once a week in church. First and foremost, worship is
a life of obedience to God's word. Learn the importance of obedience as worship in the story of David's efforts to retrieve the Ark of the Testimony from a small town and return it to Jerusalem.
This lesson was presented on April 27th, 2008 at Oak Hill Bible Church in Austin, Texas.

Pride & Avarice: A Teaching from the Book of Haggai |
|
This is a single verse-by-verse teaching through the first chapter of the Book of Haggai. God calls men to serve Him and not themselves, yet the nation of Israel lost sight of this calling
as they became discouraged during the rebuilding of the second temple after returning from captivity. In today's culture preaching pursuit of Self, the lessons of Haggai are especially timely.
This lesson was presented on November 18, 2007 at the Oak Hill Bible Church in Austin, Texas.
